Ken Morioka Has Passed Away

On June 7th, an announcement was made through facebook that Ken Morioka has passed away due to heart failure. The announcement came from Ken's brother, to share the news with his fans and supporters. Since then there has been a profound statement from musicians across the visual kei industry that Ken's passing is a severe loss.

Ken Morioka has been a pianist and composer from a very young age. Though he began his career as a support artist with various groups, he was originally known as a member of Soft Ballet, an influential electronic group from 1986. Since that time he's participated and collaborated in dozens of projects in JRock and visual kei. Fans of Buck-Tick have seen his hand in their work, Kaya as well, and even more recently he released an album in collaboration with ZIZ. His current projects, minus (-) and KA.F.KA will be deciding what direction they will take after this point. We will keep you informed as those decisions are announced.

Ken Morioka had a character and influence that he shared throughout the circle of musicians that he performed and evolved with. Without him, the JRock scene wouldn't be the same as we see it today, and he will be deeply missed.
